SWEETWATER COUNTY CLERK OF DISTRICT COURT SELECTION PROCESS APPLICATION

 

On April 7, 2026, the Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners declared a vacancy in the office of Sweetwater County Clerk of District Court, triggering a process provided for in W.S. § 22-18-111 whereas the Central Committee of the Sweetwater County Republican Party shall select three (3) persons qualified to fill the vacancy and transmit the names to the Board of County Commissioners.

Thank you for your interest in serving as the Sweetwater County Clerk of District Court. Very few are ever willing to step into the political process and take on the ever more visible task of political office. 

 

Any bona fide resident of Sweetwater County, Wyoming, who is registered to vote as a Republican, may apply to the Sweetwater County Central Committee for consideration to fill the vacancy.

 

Application materials must  be submitted electronically, and in hard copy.  Each applicant shall include a coversheet (coversheet.pdf) identifying all submitted materials. The County will compile all materials into a single application packet for review. All required materials must be received by the stated deadline to be considered complete.

Please provide ninety (90) collated hard copies of the following:
 

  1. Letter of Intent to seek nomination

  2. Resume

  3. Any other information you wish to be considered as part of your application, not to exceed four (4) pages (such as certifications, degrees, or letters of reference).

The application and documents must be received no later than 6:00 PM on Wednesday April 15, 2026.  

Applicants are required to attend the meeting of the Sweetwater County Republican Central Committee that will be held at 9:00 AM, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Western Wyoming Community College, located at 1 College Way in Green River Wyoming. 

An informal meet & greet with the central committee members will begin at 9:00 AM. Candidates may hand out additional campaign materials at this time. The official meeting will begin at 10:00 AM. When the meeting begins, each candidate will be given three (3) minutes to give an introductory speech, and up to six (6) finalists will participate in a question and answer session with the central committee. Any candidate that arrives after the scheduled meeting time, will not be considered.
